Speaking Exercise:

Pretend you’re in your office and your boss stops by to ask several questions. After each question, give your answer using complete sentences/questions and one of the phrases from the lesson. Its okay if you don’t have enough time to give your full answer between each question at first. You can do the exercise several times and pause the recording between each question. Then once you have practiced your answers well enough, try to say them in the space between each question without pausing the recording.

  • You:
  • Boss: No worries. I will check with Tony to see if he has time. Next, how are you coming on that requested spreadsheet for HR? It seemed like it was a pretty big request without much turnaround time… do you think you’ll finish by tomorrow?
  • You:
  • Boss: Yeah, that’s no problem. I think they’ll be okay with early next week. Since its your first assignment for them, would you like me check it quickly before you send it their way?
  • You:
  • Boss: Can do. And I know you’ve been analyzing budgets and spending lately, any ideas or suggestions for how we can minimize operational costs?
  • You:
